Still, I would love a sister version of the song!
(Incidentally, they're both over a thousand years old. With the passage of time, they would look close enough in age eventually. I imagine that her Season 2 look is probably the result of some spell, to try to put the NightMare Moon incident behind them. Or something...)
Then when Twilight and her friends used the Elements of Harmony to stop Nightmare Moon, it reversed the effects of the transformation, but brought her back physically as her younger self because that is what her mind was focused on until Nightmare Moon was defeated.
Then when the magic of the elements began to wear off, so did her younger body and she slowly grew back to her normal size, albeit much quicker than if she had to grow naturally again
